177 Peer Community in Animal Science: A Free Publication Model for Transparent and Open Science

چکیده
Abstract The scientific publication system should evolve into practices that enhance free dissemination and full access to research findings. At the same time, it ensure reproducibility transparency safeguard integrity from detrimental effects of current “publish or perish” culture. objective this contribution is introduce Peer Community In (PCI) Animal Science initiative (https://animsci.peercommunityin.org/), which represents an alternative under umbrella “Peer In” project (https://peercommunityin.org/ ). PCI international community researchers working in animal science related areas promotes open transparency. Although not a journal, operates similarly with editors (here: recommenders) reviewers. Currently, has 64 recommenders 20 countries. non-profit initiative, run managed by researchers. performs, at no cost, rigorous reviews preprints have been deposited on repositories such as bioRxiv Zenodo wide range science. Based independent reviews, recommender decides whether paper recommended not. Recommended are peer-reviewed citable stand-alone articles high value do need traditional journals. However, if authors wish, they can also publish their preprint Diamond Open Access Journal (https://peercommunityjournal.org/section/animsci/) cost. Authors submit manuscript PCI-friendly journals (i.e., consider evaluation own review processes) other This shows workflow manuscripts advantages adopting new publishing model.

Open Evaluation: A Vision for Entirely Transparent Post-Publication Peer Review and Rating for Science
The two major functions of a scientific publishing system are to provide access to and evaluation of scientific papers. While open access (OA) is becoming a reality, open evaluation (OE), the other side of the coin, has received less attention. Evaluation steers the attention of the scientific community and thus the very course of science. It also influences the use of scientific findings in pu...
متن کاملNutrigenomics and its Applications in Animal Science
Nutrigenomics applies genomic technologies to study how nutrients affect expression of genes. With the advent of the post genomic era and with the use of functional genomic tools, the new strategies for evaluating the effects of nutrition on production efficiency and nutrient utilization are becoming available. Nutrigenomics plays an efficient role in various fields of animal health like nutrit...

Susanne McCabe I fi nd the arguments raised by the PLoS Medicine editors very useful [1] as I had not considered that a scientifi c community would tolerate barring access to registers of trials. It leaves huge gaps for exploitation by privileged groups. It is not only colleagues in research and allied professions who need access but the global community, including members of the public whereve...
متن کاملStable Isotope Application in Animal Nutrition Science
The application of stable isotope analysis (SIA) has become a standard scientific approach in Agricultural and Ecological researches and, more in general, in several disciplines such as biology, botany, zoology, organic chemistry, climatology, and nutrition. The main objectives of this paper are (1) to provide a simple definition of stable isotopes and (2) to illustrate analytical measurement m...
متن کاملThe Open Science Peer Review Oath
One of the foundations of the scientific method is to be able to reproduce experiments and corroborate the results of research that has been done before. However, with the increasing complexities of new technologies and techniques, coupled with the specialisation of experiments, reproducing research findings has become a growing challenge. Clearly, scientific methods must be conveyed succinctly...
